FAQ
-
What time can I arrive before my booking?
Bookings can be made in half and full hour increments and you need to allow time to set up and clear away after your event within your total booking time.
-
What is available for me to use within the hire charges?
You have access to the space you have hired for the specified times along with use of the furniture allocated to that space (chairs and tables). We do not have furniture specifically for children.
Hire also includes use of the kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with a large range induction cooker with a double oven, a large fridge/freezer, and dishwasher. Mugs, teapots, teaspoons and plastic jugs are also provided. Sponges, washing up liquid, and tea towels are also available for use in the kitchen.
Aside from this, please bring anything else you might need from home e.g. a knife to cut the birthday cake, oven trays and oven gloves if planning to warm food etc.
-
What do I do about cleaning and disposing of rubbish after my event?
The Centre is cleaned regularly on a professional basis but users are asked to leave the hall and kitchen ready for the next user and hopefully in the good condition they found them in.
Crockery should be washed up and put away if used, kitchen surfaces wiped down and hall floor swept.
The Centre has a cleaning cupboard which provides broom, dustpan and brush plus a mop and bucket for any spillages.
To deal with any rubbish please bring refuse sacks with you. You can leave your rubbish in the external bin provided.
-
Can we have alcohol at the event I am planning?
Alcohol can be provided at an event on a private basis as long as everyone drinks responsibly. If you are planning to sell alcohol or run a pay bar, you will need to apply for a TEN (Temporary Event Notice) from Hart District Council.
-
Can my DJ use a smoke machine at the Centre?
NO, unfortunately this is not possible as the Centre is fitted with sensitive smoke alarms.
-
Do I have to pay a security deposit?
Bookings require refundable security deposits. More information will be provided when your booking is confirmed.
-
How do I access the Centre for my booking?
A centre manager will contact you around a week before your booking and arrange a time for you to come to the Centre and collect the keys.
At this appointment, you will be shown around and briefed on the correct procedure for opening/closing the building. Full details are provided in written format, too, including a list of emergency numbers.
-
How do I go about booking?
Make a booking by going to the homepage of our website and use the “Make a Booking” orange tab. You will need to register as a customer and you will be able to access room availability and prices and then submit your booking directly to us. You will need to acknowledge our conditions of hire and terms of acceptance prior to submission. Centre Managers will review your booking and respond to you as soon as possible.
-
How do I pay for my booking?
On confirmation of your booking you will be issued with an invoice via email for the full hire charges. This will be due for payment within 48 hours and can be settled by card payment or BACS transfer (the link to pay and bank details will be provided on the invoice). Please note that we are unable to accept cash or cheque payments at this time.
-
When I hire the hall, can I use the outside space too?
The outside area behind the community centre is public space and so is open to all. Hirers of the hall are more than welcome to make use of the small play area and green space.
-
Are there any bookings you don't accept?
We do not accept bookings for children’s parties above school year 6 or any teenage functions or 21st birthdays.
-
Do you allow bouncy castles?
Unfortunately due to low level suspended lights and acoustic panels in the hall we are unable to accept bookings with bouncy castles or children’s activity parties such as football or Nerf gun parties. If you are unsure about any activity that you are planning please liaise with a Centre Manager at the time of booking.
